New research documents the obstacles and barriers as well as the strategies for success experienced in range of Compassionate Communities in Australia.

Initiated by the GroundSwell Project the research encompassed nine diverse geographical communities across Australia. The aim was by supporting the knowledge, stories and ideas in these communities on how to do Compassionate Communities in Australia, more communities will be enabled and inspired to create their own.

The report points out that Compassionate Communities and Compassionate Cities are emerging as international strategies for implementing public health palliative care. Compassionate Communities seeks to transform how and where we care for each other in times of need. It challenges the dominant medicalised model of caring at end of life.

An extensive range of recommendations on how to facilitate and nurture the Compassionate Communities movement in Australia is included in the final report. You can download the report HERE.
