As we begin a new year and chapter, Palliative Care WA would like to acknowledge outgoing Board President Dr Elissa Campbell.

Dr Campbell, who had been Board President for eight years up until December 2025 and is a geriatrician and palliative care physician working in acute geriatric medicine, has given outstanding service and commitment to PCWA.

During her time as President, she led the sector through the My Life, My Choices review, implementation of Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) legislation, COVID-19 challenges and the formation of the Peak Funding Agreement for PCWA. The sector has benefited from Elissa’s dedication, expertise and unwavering commitment.

Dr Campbell is involved in national research and quality improvement projects in areas including palliative care, dementia and advance care planning. She is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of WA and was a member of the WA Ministerial Expert Panel on Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD), VAD Implementation Leadership Team and VAD Act Review Panel.

In 2022, Dr Campbell undertook the inaugural WA Health Churchill Fellowship to ‘explore models of palliative care for people with dementia’.

Thank you, Elissa for your outstanding commitment to Palliative Care WA and the broader palliative care sector.
