Meet our new Board
Following our Annual General Meeting, we are proud delighted to announce that Palliative Care WA (PCWA) has a new President, Liz Behjat. Liz is State Manager of Ageing Australia.
Hiren Mehta was re-elected Treasurer, Maria Davison and Zoe Clarke were re-elected Ordinary Members, and Libby Simpson was elected as a new Ordinary Member. Libby is Executive Director Care Services at Hall and Prior Health and Aged Care Group.
The other Board positions of Deputy President held by Simon Towler, Secretary held by Samya Brayley and Ordinary Board Member held by Janet Wagland were not up for election this year.
President Liz Behjat and Deputy President Simon Towler thanked outgoing Board President Dr Elissa Campbell, who had been Board President for eight years, for her outstanding service to PCWA, leading the sector through the My Life, My Choices review, implementation of Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) legislation, COVID-19 challenges and the formation of the Peak Funding Agreement for PCWA. The sector has benefited from Elissa’s dedication, expertise and unwavering commitment.
Liz also thanked Ordinary Member Professor Davina Porock for her service to PCWA, warmly welcomed Libby Simpson to the Board, and thanked CEO Lenka Psar-McCabe and the team for another year of great achievements.
In her address, Dr Campbell recognised Palliative Care WA Life Members – Dr Mary McNulty, Dr Alice Phua, Susie Vojkovic, Dr Scott Blackwell, Dr Kevin Yuen, Emeritus Professor Doug Bridge, Rev Geoff Blyth, Dr Douglas McAdam, Ellen Nightingale and Joy Brann.
Elissa also thanked all the current and previous Board members, CEO Lenka Psar-McCabe and previous CEO Lana Glogowski, and the dedicated and skilled team at PCWA for their hard work and commitment to the organisation.
