On National Palliative Care Week this year, we were extremely fortunate to be able to host an online sector forum featuring Professor Susan Kurrle, who talked about compassionate care in Residential Aged Care facilities.

A geriatrician in NSW, Professor Kurrle’s presentation looked at the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety and what aspects were important in compassionate care, before, during and after COVID-19. She also discussed the intergenerational model of care that was showcased in the ABC documentary Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds which aired last year.

The feedback received from all those who participated has been extremely positive with many commenting on how inspired they feel by Professor Kurrle passion for improving care for older people in residential care.

For those who couldn’t participate, here is Professor Kurrle’s powerpoint, as well as the audio from her presentation.
