21st May 2024

This year’s Annual Sector Breakfast to celebrate National Palliative Care Week 2024 drew a broad range of sector professionals and community members across three locations – Perth, Bunbury and Albany.

Special thanks go our guest speakers Dr Julian Abel and Professor Samar Aoun and panel members Dr Alison Parr, Gabriella Jerrat and Michelle Elson, who together with our superbly skilled MC Di Darmody, made the event a great success. This year the topic was ‘Sharing the Care – Health professionals or community: which group comes first in a compassionate communities approach to care?’

We also want to give a big thanks our event sponsors Carers WA, Brightwater, Silverchain, Bethesda, Melville Cares, St John of God, and Cancer Council WA’s Palliative and Supportive Care Education. Without their support we couldn’t run these very informative and popular breakfasts. Support from the Lockwood Charitable Foundation is also gratefully acknowledged. Thanks also go to our event partners SW Palliative Care Unit and Albany Hospice.

Thanks and gratitude also go to Fraser’s Kings Park, Mantra Lighthouse Bunbury in Bunbury, Hilton Garden Inn in Albany, beautiful music by Tres Classique, Welcome to Country from Matthew McGuire, and audio-visual assistance from PAV.

Thank you everyone for making it such a great event!

Julian and Samar have made their presentations available for those interesting in reading them in greater detail. Please see below:
