Palliative Care WA were out and about for Dying to Know Day 2018.  We held an information stand at RAAFA WA Bull Creek’s inaugural Dying to Know Expo.  Our Executive Officer, Ms Lana Glogowski, also delivered an Advance Care Planning presentation to around 30 of the attendees.  Great feedback from our audience and we are looking forward to heading back to RAAFA WA Bullcreek to run a longer workshop on 25 October.

Dying to Know Great Southern ran four days of events throughout Albany to activate conversations and curiosity and increase death literacy in the community.

Events included a sold-out screening of the movie “The Leisure Seeker”, a  poster competition through Albany Primary School, speaker sessions at Albany Library and a ‘Death Over Dinner’ community.

They received wonderful feedback from attendees and the event evaluation showed that the Great Southern Community wants and values being able to talk about death, dying and loss.  It is through these conversations we break down the barriers and socialise the response to death and develop a community that is ready and able to respond to death and loss when it occurs.
