Our newly-released Palliative Care Helpline Interim Report shows that awareness of the service has increased greatly. The number of calls to the Helpline increased significantly in the 1 July to 31 December 2022 period compared with the number of calls in the same period in the previous year. This represents a dramatic 86% increase in calls.

The Palliative Care Helpline (Helpline), operated by Palliative Care WA and funded by the WA End of Life Care Program at the WA Department of Health, supports all members of the WA community who are coping with palliative care or end-of-life issues for themselves or for someone else in their lives. The service is free and is available 9.00am to 5.00pm every day of the year by calling 1800 573 299.

Callers have expressed their appreciation of the service:

“I felt so supported and heard for the first time throughout this palliative care journey.”

“The Helpline team really understood my concerns and kept me on the line until my anxiety levels had decreased. I felt so comfortable speaking to the Helpline team members I called back again twice in the same week for clarification on other issues that arose. Amazing service.”
