Annual Sector Breakfast highlighted needs of vulnerable communities
It was fabulous to see such a great turn out for this year’s Annual Sector Breakfast to celebrate National Palliative Care Week 2023. This year it was held at three locations – Perth, Bunbury and Albany – thanks to our event partners SW Palliative Care Unit and Albany Hospice.
Feedback on the event showed that more than 85 per cent of attendees rated the event as either outstanding or very good!
Special thanks go to Dr Naheed Dosani for his illuminating presentation, our expert panelists Dr Kevin Yuen, Theresa Kwok, and Bernadette Nowak, and our superbly skilled MC Di Darmody. We also want to give a big thank our event sponsors Carers WA, Brightwater, Silverchain, Bethesda, WA Primary Health Alliance, and Cancer Council WA’s Palliative and Supportive Care Education. Without their support we couldn’t run these very informative and popular breakfasts. Support from the Lockwood Charitable Foundation is also gratefully acknowledged.
Thanks and gratitude also go to HESTA, Fraser’s Kings Park, Quality Lighthouse Hotel in Bunbury, Hilton Garden Inn in Albany, and Viv Stuart for the prizes, beautiful harp music by Rowan Rovere, Welcome to Country from Dennis Jetta, Lester Coyne and Sharon Wood-Kenney, and audio-visual assistance PAV.
Thank you everyone for making it such a great event!
Dr Dosani has provided a resource list for those interested in learning more about palliative care and people who are homeless.
