Palliative Care WA Advance Care Planning Community Workshops
In the first half of 2018, Palliative Care WA delivered 16 Advance Care Planning (ACP) Community Workshops and presentations in the Peel region, Albany, Bunbury, Busselton, Chittering, Midland and the Perth Metropolitan area. We have also delivered workshops to culturally and linguistically diverse groups. Our highly interactive workshops outline and explain Advance Care Planning and includes the popular Dying to Talk card game to assist participants in exploring their values and what is important to them at end of life. Topics covered in the workshops include: how to have a conversation about your end-of-life wishes with your family, loved ones and health care providers; what is palliative care and when should it be offered; organ and tissue donation; and how to make an Advance Health Directive, Enduring Powers of Guardianship and Attorney.
We have received fantastic feedback from our workshops participants: 76% of participants have rated Palliative Care WA’s ACP workshops as ‘very useful’, with 98% indicating they would recommend to family and friends.
We have a very busy next few months coming up with ACP workshops scheduled in Shenton Park, Carine, Scarborough, Morley , Forrestfield, Dawesville, Armadale, Fremantle, Bullcreek, Geraldton region, plus planned workshops in Albany and for Carers WA.
