SUMMARY:Writing life and death together - workshop for writers and non-writers alike
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever noticed that writing things down has the power to shift how you feel? Could putting words to some of life’s hardest moments help us get through them? \nIn their newly published book\, How to Dress for Old Age\, co-authors David Carlin and Peta Murray tell tender\, funny and confronting stories of their personal friendship as they face their respective responsibilities to their ageing parents\, and grapple with one big question: How to live meaningfully to the end? \nThis hands-on workshop led by Peta and David is designed for writers and non-writers alike. Participants will be gently guided through a series of steps to create short pieces that explore ideas\, feelings and experiences of the lived realities of our shared mortality. \nPeta and David have delivered many workshops together and specialise in creating an atmosphere of creative reciprocity and inclusive\, imaginative play. \nTo book please visit HERE.

SUMMARY:My Future Care - Advance Care Planning Online Community Workshop - Safe Space
DESCRIPTION:We all want to have a say in what happens in the last part of our lives. By making plans that cover our care\, lifestyle\, health and finances\, we work out what we want\, as well as making things easier on those around us. This process is called Advance Care Planning. \nThis online workshop will cover information on what is involved in Advance Care Planning\, how to get started\, and how to talk with your loved ones about your end-of-life wishes. It is a practical and interactive workshop where you will have the chance to get your questions answered. \nWho is this for? \nThis is one of our ‘safe space’ workshops. It is only open to people with a chronic condition or terminal illness\, as well as those who care for family or friends with a chronic condition or terminal illness. \nWhile the core information on Advance Care Planning that is covered is the same as other workshops that we run\, we recognise that some people will feel more comfortable sharing questions and concerns with those in similar circumstances … within a ‘safe space’. \nWe respectfully ask anyone who does not fit into this group\, to not register for this workshop. \nThanks to funding from the WA Department of Health\, our workshops are free for anyone living in Western Australia. There is a fee for community members from elsewhere in Australia. We are not able to offer these workshops to international participants. \nRegistration information \n\nRegistrations are essential and can be made on Humanitix\nTwo days before your workshop we will send you a link to download the resources electronically and the Zoom link to join the workshop\nAfter you have completed the workshop\, we will post you the full resource pack.\n\nWhat else do you need to know? \n\nThis online workshop will be held using Zoom.\nWe will provide some tips on participating in online workshops and on using Zoom.\nWe recommend you use a desktop computer or tablet to get the most out of your workshop experience.\n\nAny questions? \nYou are welcome to contact us at Palliative Care WA if you have any questions on 1300 551 704 or info@palliativecarewa.asn.au. \nWant to organise a workshop? \nIf you would like to organise a free Advance Care Planning or Palliative Care community workshop for your own community group\, organisation or workplace please contact us on info@palliativecarewa.asn.au. \n
