SUMMARY:My Future Care - Advance Care Planning Online Community Workshop - Safe Space
DESCRIPTION:We all want to have a say in what happens in the last part of our lives. By making plans that cover our care\, lifestyle\, health and finances\, we work out what we want\, as well as making things easier on those around us. This process is called Advance Care Planning. \nThis online workshop will cover information on what is involved in Advance Care Planning\, how to get started\, and how to talk with your loved ones about your end-of-life wishes. It is a practical and interactive workshop where you will have the chance to get your questions answered. \nWho is this for? \nThis is one of our ‘safe space’ workshops. It is only open to people with a chronic condition or terminal illness\, as well as those who care for family or friends with a chronic condition or terminal illness. \nWhile the core information on Advance Care Planning that is covered is the same as other workshops that we run\, we recognise that some people will feel more comfortable sharing questions and concerns with those in similar circumstances … within a ‘safe space’. \nWe respectfully ask anyone who does not fit into this group\, to not register for this workshop. \nThanks to funding from the WA Department of Health\, our workshops are free for anyone living in Western Australia. There is a fee for community members from elsewhere in Australia. We are not able to offer these workshops to international participants. \nRegistration information \n\nRegistrations are essential and can be made on Eventbrite\nTwo days before your workshop we will send you a link to download the resources electronically and the Zoom link to join the workshop\nAfter you have completed the workshop\, we will post you the full resource pack.\n\nWhat else do you need to know? \n\nThis online workshop will be held using Zoom.\nWe will provide some tips on participating in online workshops and on using Zoom.\nWe recommend you use a desktop computer or tablet to get the most out of your workshop experience.\n\nAny questions? \nYou are welcome to contact us at Palliative Care WA if you have any questions on 1300 551 704 or info@palliativecarewa.asn.au. \nWant to organise a workshop? \nIf you would like to organise a free Advance Care Planning or Palliative Care community workshop for your own community group\, organisation or workplace please contact us on info@palliativecarewa.asn.au.

SUMMARY:Palliative Care Volunteering - Steering a course through grief and loss online workshop
DESCRIPTION:What the workshop is about\nVolunteers are essential\, not only for our economy\, but also for the influence they have on the well-being of people going through the toughest of times in their lives: life-limiting illness and end-of-life. Volunteering in palliative care is a tough\, but also very rewarding gig. It has the potential to harm our wellbeing\, affecting both our physical and mental health because we deal with overwhelming grief and loss as we support patients and their families. For our volunteering to be sustainable we need to understand grief and loss\, our history of loss and the impact it has on us\, and ways to navigate grief and loss in our caring role. \nHow the workshop will help you\nThe workshop will help you to: \n\nunderstand the various types of losses and their impact on self and others\napply tools to help you better navigate your care role\nevaluate various options and apply strategies for work-life balance.\n\nHow the workshop will run\nThe workshop has been designed to allow participants to share\, brainstorm and network with each other. Pre-reading or visual materials will be provided for participants to do BEFORE the workshop. The workshop will be delivered via Zoom and all details will be provided to participants once they register. \nCost\nThe cost of the workshop is $25 per person. If you are a volunteer with one of our member organisations your attendance will be free. See the list of current organisational members HERE. \nTo book your place\, visit HERE. \nFor further information visit www.palliativecarewa.asn.au or contact info@palliativecareasn.au or phone 1300 551 704.
