Palliative Care WA has presented an election ask to the WA Labor and Liberal parties, detailing a project that has the potential to be a game changer for the people of Western Australia.
The project involves developing a consumer awareness campaign, a follow-up to the hugely successful 2019 You only die once campaign, and then delivering ‘train-the-trainer’ style ACP workshops across WA aiming to facilitate education within several WA communities.
By working in collaboration with a range of community service partners and utilising a co-design approach, we aim to explore nuanced strategies designed to engage a range of WA communities in the Advance Care Planning process. These include people with disabilities; residents in aged care; members of the LGBTIQ+ community; and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
As the peak body for palliative care and end-of-life issues in the State, and with the valued support of our sector partners, Palliative Care WA is uniquely positioned to deliver this project. For more information on the project benefits, our sector partners and why the time is ripe in WA for this project, please download the election ask document HERE.
For a modest investment the WA Government has the opportunity to enable WA to once again lead the way in increasing both community awareness of, and engagement in Advance Care Planning.
